blog's story.

blogger, with its new and improved page additions, suggests making an 'about you' page. talking about myself probalby isn't a forte so instead, here's a quick history of the blog and my relationship with it.

i joined the "blogosphere" two years ago when i got set to travel to volunteer in a liberian refugee camp in ghana in april 2008. tired of failing to send proper emails to interested parties the summer before in uganda, this seemed like a good way to keep people posted on where i was and what i was doing. i named it 'lindsay in ghana' for that summer and, despite feeling a bit lame and self-interested, was pretty happy with how it turned out.

back at school, 'lindsay in ghana' became a website for an organization i started to build to support projects that i started that summer. the blog was a way of updating people with the going ons of camps, the stresses and how they could help.

after graduating, i took off traveling again and this blog continued to be a means of keeping friends and family informed with where i was. ghana became kenya, uganda, rwanda etc. and i felt it was fitting to make the switch to 'lindsay in ...'. people who read will know my obsession with '...' and '(...)'. suppose i'm a bit indecisive and grey.

anyway. few months traveling and it was time to go back to ghana. the blog was revised again for its original purpose and became an outlet for my successes, confusions and frustrations.

then. canada again. the cycle continues along the ghana, canada, travel/volunteer and repeat pattern. i write this now from mid-way through the second cycle as i finish volunteering in south africa and prepare myself to head up to buduburam another time for a few weeks. then, canada, then south america for work.

its turned into a nice outlet for explaining, thinking and at times, complaining. i hope everyone else enjoys reading...
